Working with schools

About

Jan has been working with local schools in the area to provide an understanding of nature and the environment. Jan is fully qualified with CEVAS, Countryside Educational  Visits Accreditation Scheme.

Information

Tailored to the age and requirements  of the students  the activities will vary.

An example of a pervious visit from a class of Year 9's:

When the class  came they were able to explore our clay by making animal figures that you would find on the farm. That they can take home with them.

Followed by a walk to our semi natural ancient woodland where we have created a  wetland site by building leaky woody dams. Here, Jan shares the importance of  water conservation.

On some of our visits we have had the children creating their own dams, as a hands on activity.

Jan will explain the importance of caring for the environment. Plants, butterflies, birds and the importance of pollination.

In the wood Jan will share how carefully managed woodland is integral for wildlife and biodiversity and explain what coppiced wood is used for at the farm.

Get In Touch

Jan is so knowledgeable of the spaces on and around her farm. She was great with the students who were kept thoroughly entertained through each activity. An absolute pleasure to be involved in! - Jess Davis
